the story behind the brand
THE STORY
Events in our lives bring wear and tear, scars and marks. It’s the same with a quality hat—when you start with a solid foundation and the highest quality materials and craftmanship, your story and journey will create the loving distress that naturally comes with time, from a life well lived.
LA Rosa is simply my name—Lynley Ann Rosa—but it’s so much more than that. My name is my signature but it was also chosen to honor my late husband‘s legacy, to carry on the name of a man so well loved.
Traditions are the foundation to carry on legacies. I’m not about trends but more about time-honored traditions in craftsmanship and quality that will withstand the years and stories to be carried out by the wearer. The kind of hat we make can be passed down from one generation to the next, gathering stories along the way. That’s what LA Rosa is all about, telling the story of a lifetime.
THE LEGACY
crafting pieces by hand, one at a time. The old fashioned way, how it was always meant to be.
lynley rosa
From a young age I’ve loved fashion and had a strong sense of my own style and point of view. I grew up around horses and western culture, which has inspired many of parts of this fashion journey.
Years later, the legacy of LA Rosa begins with my husband of 19 years, David Rosa, a Long Beach Fire Captain who was shot and killed in the line of duty during a fire on June 25, 2018. It is from that tragedy and grief journey that I find myself in Idaho writing another chapter. My heart is for the widows and orphans left behind from first responder deaths.
This is why I take from the proceeds of every custom hat order and give to one of my favorite non profits, Never Alone: Widows of Heroes. They came alongside me during my grief with encouragement and hope and introduced me to a wonderful tribe of widows who still journey with me to this day.
It is my hope that as I continue to create beautiful things that others who have experienced great loss will be reminded that they can be born again from the rubble of devastation. That they are not alone in their pain but rather they are part of a community of survivors who have face great loss but keep going because hope endures.
CUSTOM WORK
4 of hearts hat shop
I have continued on in the space Randy Priest called the Silvertip Hat Shop in Donnelly, Idaho. It is with profound gratitude that I will continue to operate out of this shop, renaming it 4 of Hearts, using all of the best hat making traditions, passed down from such a legend.
I have met so many amazing people from all over the state and beyond who have expressed how happy they are that the iconic little hat shop remains.
It is with profound gratitude that I will continue to operate out of this shop, using all of the best hat making traditions, passed down from such a legend.
There will never be another Randy Priest but he lives on in all of our hearts, and if you’re lucky enough, you have at least one of his hand-made hats. He always said, “If you want to get ahead, get a hat!”
